The Advertising & Promotion Tax is a 1.5% local tax applied to all prepared foods and short-term lodging—think restaurant meals and hotel stays. The funds collected are reinvested right back into our community, fueling tourism and creating lasting benefits for the community.
Do you have an idea for a project that will help improve our community and attract visitors to Benton?
Written requests must substantiate the economic impact of the proposed event as it pertains to the primary mission of the A & P Commission, which is the following:
- Promote the City of Benton
- Increase economic activity
- Enhance the quality of life of the city
The primary question to be considered by the Commission is how many dollars the event will generate in the local economy. The key includes: the number of visitors expected for the event and the total impact on local lodging, restaurant and retail business receipts. These estimates are addressed in the Funding Request form.
A written request must be submitted at least one week before the regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission to the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce office (located at 607 N. Market Street, Benton, AR 72015) to allow sufficient time for the item to be placed on the agenda.
